We’re building a world where every child has the food, skills, and experiences they need to eat well and thrive.
Join us in growing a healthier future for every child.
Project Beetroot is a Bellingham, WA based non-profit that connects kids to healthy food in the garden, in the kitchen, and at the table.
What We Do
From schoolyards to our mobile food truck, our four programs grow good eaters, spark curiosity, and nourish communities.
Gardening and cooking lessons for K–5 students that connect food, science, nutrition, and social-emotional learning.
Hands-on gardening and cooking clubs where students build skills, explore food, and connect with their communities.
Spring and summer camps where K–5 kids dig, cook, explore nature, and have fun with food.
Free, scratch-cooked meals and nutrition education delivered to kids and families in our community.
Why We Do It
Food helps kids grow, learn, and thrive.
Healthy food nourishes growing bodies and minds. Growing and cooking food helps kids understand where food comes from and builds skills they can carry with them. Sharing food brings people together and helps children develop healthy habits that can last a lifetime.
Right now, too many kids in our community don’t have the same opportunities to experience healthy food. Some face food insecurity. Others have few opportunities to grow food, cook, or learn where healthy food comes from.
Changing that takes more than telling kids to eat healthy. It takes hands-on experiences that make healthy food accessible, familiar, and fun. Project Beetroot brings gardening and cooking education into K–5 schools and works with community partners to connect kids with nutritious food and the skills to grow, cook, and enjoy it.
We’ve been doing this work for more than 20 years. And we’re not done.
