Project Beetroot.
Earlier this year, as we celebrated 20 years of growing good eaters, we shared that we were preparing for a new name. We wanted something that better reflects who we are today and gives us room to grow into the next 20 years.
So, why Project Beetroot?
“Project”
Project reflects the work we do together. It’s hands-on, collaborative, creative, and always evolving. It’s about bringing people together to build something meaningful and making room for new ideas and possibilities.
“Beetroot”
The beet has been part of our visual story since the beginning. It’s a symbol of food, gardens, growing, nourishment, and the joy of getting your hands in the dirt.
And root speaks to something deeper: connection, belonging, and the strong foundations that help us grow.
These ideas came through again and again as we listened to our community throughout the naming process.
Put it all together, and Project Beetroot feels like a name that honors our roots while giving us room to grow.

Our name and visual identity.
What’s staying the same?
Our mission. We’re still helping kids discover the joy of food so they can grow up to nourish their bodies, their communities, and their environment.
Our programs. Our gardening and cooking education, enrichment opportunities, and food access programs continue.
Our people. The same team is here, working alongside the same schools, families, partners, volunteers, and supporters.
Our commitment to our community. We’re still rooted in Whatcom County and excited about what we can grow together next.
